Networking
One of our Board's primary objectives is to facilitate networking among students, alumni, and faculty of the JMU Department of Political Science for developmental and career opportunities. Additionally, our Board strives to expand this network and include other Dukes who are in related fields, such as the Hill, US Government, private sector, legal industry, and non-profit sector. Fundraising
At least twice each year, our Board launches campaigns to crowdsource support to the JMU Department of Political Science. These campaigns have been incredibly successful in raising money for specific funds intended to increase opportunities for students and faculty of the Department. In 2018 alone, we raised over $25,000 for the JMU Washington Semester Scholarship Fund. To learn more about giving opportunities, please click "POSC giving" above.
Professional Development
The success of our Board is derived from engaged and accomplished alumni who support our goals and initiatives. We strive to provide these Dukes with opportunities for professional development through specialized programming and networking initiatives. In addition to hosting alumni-focused events, we host an annual speaking engagement for Dukes in the DC area.
